I ran a Marathon?

I'm back!

I have been thinking for a long time about kick starting my blog again, after 2 unsuccessful and very shameful attempts; BUT you know what they say - 3rd time lucky! With running consuming every aspect of my life so far in 2013, it just wasn't feasible to get it up and running as quickly as I would have liked, you can see I still have a lot of work to do and its going to start with one major facelift but whilst that's all happening BTS, I needed to put 'pen to paper' and tell you all about the one thing that has taken over for the last 16 weeks.

Those of you who knew me last year, would have known that I wasn't exactly the type to run for fun, in fact, running held around 4th spot on my 'Things I hate' list. The exact reason I was more determined than ever to embrace this challenge.

I applied through a Charity some of you may be familiar with, called Whizz-Kidz. They kindly gave me a place on their VLM13 team, and that's where it all began.....

I googled 16 week training plan, followed a few fitness freakish Instagram profiles, got myself a new gym kit and away I went, diving head first in to a gruelling exercise schedule which consisted of no less than 3 runs a week, 2 spin classes and a weight training class. I adapted new eating habits, which meant I often spent my Saturday nights food shopping as appose to binge drinking. I changed, physically and mentally. It really was all or nothing as I wanted to do this and prove to everyone that ANYTHING is achievable given the right mental attitude.

16 weeks later, I'm 21 pounds lighter, so much more educated in fitness and nutrition AND I am proudly part of the 1% of the population who will run a Marathon in their lifetime.

No words justify the emotions, feelings and sheer sense of unity that come with running a marathon. If you do one thing in your lifetime, it has to be that. I doubted myself and my ability for 16 whole weeks, and finished at a PB (based on training) of 5:10:14, if that isn't proof that anyone can do anything, then I do not know what is.
